"Perspectives from 2001"

What a year it was! You talk about your highs and lows. The highs of becoming a daddy and experiencing childbirth to the lows of September 11th and watching America morn. The Yankees finally lost a world series, and the Eagles might even make the playoffs. What is up with THAT. We had a president elected by the court system, and court judges selected by the president. Hmm.

And what have we learned here? Maybe a little about the frailty of life. Anybody that’s been up to the top of the world trade centers could not conceive of those buildings coming down. How eerie a drive it is now up to North Jersey without seeing those towers greeting cars crawling over the George Washington Bridge. I learned how to change a diaper, and I learned that sometimes a good walk is the best way to achieve peace and quiet. I learned that I can never take anything for granted. From the mail to airline security to naps to gig bookings to guitar strings to weather…. nothing is for certain.  Well maybe one thing is. Hope.

Musically it was also a great year for me. It saw the birth of my website, a place where all my friends and supporters could congregate and interact. A lot of the seeds Gabrielle and I planted in late 2000 and throughout 2001 bloomed vigorously. Check out the review section of the website. If nothing else I think I feel like the most vindicated man of 2001, as my music is inspiring others as well as myself, giving me the courage to take things further.

Ever forward, 2002 looks very promising! First of all, I plan on recording my first solo album this year. We’ve been looking at studios and producers for some time now. And the demos; while they are cool, are still….demos. I am so psyched to go in and record some of those babies in the proper environment. Also in 2002 look for some major changes to the website. Gabrielle and I have been talking about adding some things, and simplifying others.

Most of all this year, I am looking forward to doing some shows with my original music. Baby and cover bands were my big time-consumers in 2001 (all for the best) and this year it’s time to bring out the originals and connect with people; to get out and perform.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you in person in the coming months ahead. Until then, God bless you and have a great year!

-Scott
