Hello folks!
Another year has come and gone, and of course there is always the
inclination to pause and look back at this past year’s events. And even
though you’ve probably been emailed about each and every one of our wins
this year, there are some things that have happened in 2002 that you might
not have known about.
For example, 2002 saw the birth of many, many songs in the Nursery (my
home studio). Some have been recorded, some have been just demoed for fun,
others are waiting to be discovered. My daughter, Abby, and I like to get
together and write songs during episodes of Sesame Street, and although I
must sometimes resemble the songwriter that bangs his head into the piano
from that show (remember “drive, drive, drive your car gently down the
street” “no I’ll never get it, never!!!!!”, the experiences are wonderful.
Abby is my inspiration and a pretty tough critic as well.
This year was also the first time I’ve ever played anything solo. For
years and years I’ve always had a band behind me, but this past September
found me banging out Together Alone at the LAWIM “soirée”, an experience
augmented by my friends Tim and James, and an impromptu smoke machine
output. Who knew?
Also this year I got to make some great friends, with producers (more
on THAT coming next year J),
agents, publishers, and music supervisors. There is a never ending supply
of hands to shake and people that need to be impressed in Los Angeles, but
its all part of the business…. however, 2002 was a year when all the faces
were really friendly. Something to be thankful for….
Another little victory…Matt, my old bass player from the Karma Factory,
became the bass player in my cover band, Drop Dead Sexy. So good to have
him onstage with me again. You should see him in an Afro wig, its too
good.
New Year’s Resolution? Naaaa. Not my style. However, I am hoping to
record many, many songs this year, with above-mentioned producers, and
bring more music into the world. Until then, thanks for all the support,
and I’ll see you next year….
